The History of The Huzzah Theatre Troupe...
In 2011, while working in the Two Rivers School District, Colleen Machut soon realized that there was a need for a Drama/Performance organization. There were young artists starving for expression. Using her University training in theatre and music, she started meeting with a group of highschool juniors and seniors on a regular basis to create art. Outside pressures led many of the students to discontinue, except for three dedicated artists: Emily Mathis, Dusty Mathis, and Kelsey Vohen. As these artists developed, the group expanded beyond the high school scene.
Since then, we have grown into an independent organization with multiple causes and projects including The Live Forever Project, 100% Recycled (theatre for children), Purple Nebula, and Five Empty Chairs (Improv). Our work has grown in depth and breadth, starting as theatre for children and expanding to mature social themes and issues that are relevant to an increasing number of people. We look forward to our continuing growth as an organization, as artists, and as people.
